Goldilocks & The Gender War

These days, it can seem like masculine and feminine forces are more at war than ever. From reproductive rights to gun rights, compromise and negotiation seem to have all but disappeared from the national discourse.

We can feel it internally as well, regardless of our gender. Men are being held to a higher standard of emotional maturity while women are standing up to protect themselves. And while these shifts can be seen as positive, we have to be careful to not overcorrect, but instead seek to find balance.

As Goldilocks taught us, the best meal is not too hot and not too cold. So it is with our internal and seemingly opposing forces of masculine and feminine power.

In this Soul Mixer, Rebels will have a chance to take part in a discussion on the evolution (and perhaps extinction) of gender roles, how our society is—and isn’t—adapting to the rising tide of feminine power, and more. Bring an open mind and be ready to share your honest thoughts in this Soul Mixer!

Tell Love Stories

In celebration of the month of Love, our first Soul Session of the month will be a community-driven experience known as Tell Love Stories.

Inspired by the movement of the same name started in Washington, D.C., Rebels who join this Soul Mixer will be invited to share a short love story from their own lives. Whether that’s a heartwarming tale, a story of loss, or a short story with many layers and lessons, we are ready to hear it!

Bring your favorite love story (be prepared to share it in under five minutes), some tissues if you might get emotional, and an open heart!

Line In The Sand

If you believe that everyone has a purpose, then it can seem impossible to believe that any of us can live a fully happy life without pursuing our own purpose. It’s like going on a bike race and never using your top gear.

How can any of us know what true happiness is if we are pursuing someone else’s dream—or worse, no dream at all? As it’s said, interest yourself not in the pursuit of happiness, but in the happiness of pursuit. To do that, we each must choose our authentic path every day and every moment. Unfortunately, doing so can be strikingly difficult at times.

In this Soul Mixer, we’ll have an honest conversation around what it feels like to pursue your purpose, how to get started, and most importantly, what to do when the world begins to test our resolve.

Speechless

How can some people seem to be able to talk endlessly about, it seems, just anything while others struggle to introduce themselves at a party? Our ability to express ourselves isn’t just a personality trait; it’s a consequence of how confident we are in who we are.

In this Soul Mixer, we’re going to explore what lies behind the act of “full expression.” Together, we’ll discover new research in confidence, age-old secrets of the throat chakra, and everything in between that can help each of us stand with more confidence when we have something to say.

After all, where’s the fun in thinking for yourself if you can’t engage with the world and all of its interesting (and sometimes crazy) ideas?

Have Your Cake and Eat It, Too

Most ancient texts and scriptures promote, in one way or another, giving up our Earthly desires in order to separate ourselves from desire. The problem is that some of those Earthly desires are really nice, and we like them.

Is it possible to still enjoy the world while still pursuing enlightenment? Or do we have to take vows of poverty and celibacy in order to really understand what it means to be human?

Join this Soul Mixer to explore these questions together and, together, gain a deeper understanding of what “it” is all about.

The Infinite Now

Anxiety and depression can quickly take over our lives when we focus too much on the past or the future.

Releasing expectations of outcomes, and of ourselves, through the skill of presence is the only path to living a joyful life.

In this Soul Mixer, we’ll explore the role that the past, present, and future play in our lives. You’ll be asked questions that peel back the layers of un-presence in your own life.

Together, let’s explore the “Infinite Now,” the bliss of present existence that we all have access to in every moment.
